I had my xdrive 30d serviced this week and oil was reset to 13,000miles i queried this with the dealer and he said it was set to the service life of the rear brake pads. Is this correct I thought fresh oil was usually reset to start at 15k or 20k miles ?

What I think he means is that because your rear pads are running out of life, that is the limit that the service reset to? Just a guess though...
My 40d was reset to 18,000 miles or 12-months at its last service. That is because of the MOT.

I have also had service last week from main dealer brake fluid and oil with particle filter. The oil service now set to 16000 or a year.
But I checked and replaced discs/brake pads myself before booking in, good think, all health checks are fine and green except wipers surprisingly smearing all according to them that i have replace myself a month ago.

Mine had a oil service yesterday and counter was set to 19000 miles. 8000 miles for the rear brake pad change according to the computer though.

I got dealer to reset oil indicator and it returned to 13,000miles. Maybe computer works out your average mileage over 2 years then starts counting down. I do 6k miles per year....
