hi guys havent posted for a while but need a little help. i bought a set of complete headlights with halogen halolights and xenon lights on my prefacelift non xenon x5, bought them when they first came out over 2 years ago, they have projector lenses. similar to ones on ebay now with no xenons but people can just replace with h7 xenon kits which is the same as mine. anyways lately the passenger side xenon sometimes struggles to heat up and come on at all, i would take them on and off a few times and it wiill work, u can see the light taking longer to heat up an get to full brightness compared to other side. is it just the bulb life over, or the ballast. i have 8000k so should i replace both bulbs with h7 projector type. the full kit with the ballasts work out alot more than just the bulbs. thanks

8000k!! Thats a bit much i'd say? I don't think I would go over 6000k and standard is something like 4300k.

Anyway, to check, take your bulbs out (being careful not to touch the delicate parts) and swap them around. If it happens when in your other light unit then you know it is the bulb. If it still happens on the same side then you know it is electrical and could be the ballast or some other fault.

8000K? They must be more blue than white aren't they? Aren't they a bit dark too? The higher the colour temp goes the lower the light output or so I've seen referred to on the web. OK for show use, but not much else.

i made the mistake when i ordered them, strong tinge of blue but looks ok and lights the roads 10 times better than standard, lights have self level motors etc. turks thanks prob best idea if it is the bulb i think i will replace both and drop down to 6000k. my alfa has 5000k i think which look good.

Hi, if you check the bulb by swapping it then I would do what you say and swap to a lower temperature. 5000k would be a huge improvement on your visibility. I would also be happy with the standard 4300k but I do like a little purple / blue tinge!
