Ordered X3 30d xline early March. Checking progress on BMW genius showed expected delivery week 19 in May. Contact with dealer today - 11th - delivery now expected week 17 end of April  ) Mentioned to dealer that it is frustrating that BMW USA has facility to track new builds but in UK you have to use BMW genius chat or contact dealer. He agreed and was aware that VW had this facility; however he did not feel that BMW in Europe would offer this any time in the future. Seems a shame as obviously the system is in place - they just need to allow customers to access it.

The main reason is because under the US Freedom of Information Act, BMW are obliged to make the data available.  In the EU they aren't so they won't spend the money to connect customers in via a portal interface.  Look how long BMW in car telematics stuck to 2G data and ignored 3G and better.  It costs money so they just won't spend it.

It's the same with most industries....legally required in the US, not elsewhere.  It is also why BMW user manuals etc are easy to find for US models but in Europe have to be got (AFAIK) via your Dealer.
