Thought I'd post and enquirie if anyone has removed mudflaps from their X5 (E70) and has them sitting about ?
I'm undecided on fitting, so reluctant to pay dealer pricing?
OR
Is their any suppliers of mudflaps, though would have to be OEM fittment?

Thanks!
I've looked at them, though theyre not long enough on the arches / bumper in comparison to OEM.

The sad thing being I've always been anti flap, however the 20" wheel package is causing gravel rash! So before I rectify, I'll try and eliminate reoccurrence.

I may just swallow deep and pay the dealer!

I had a set put on my 2012 40D for same reason and they did the job.  I paid around 400 for mud flaps and installation at BMW.

Hi

Do you have the bad road package, which is basically clear plastic film fitted to the lower rear quarter of the rear doors and on the rear wheel arches and the rear of the sills.

This is something you can Retro fit yourself and was fitted to some cars by BMW probably an option, and also fitted to some cars them after customers had problems with pebble dashing on the rear doors and arches and the cars were repainted and the film applied to fairly new cars.

It is intended to help reduce the damage from having the larger 20" wheels not too sure it really works and agreed the big mud flaps would help its just they practical but don't look great.

I know when looking for a car 2years ago at a 2010 X5 in carbon black which had bad pebble dashing and it was like it had white dots on the rear doors and arches, where as there was a white car with the film on which was slightly newer but it had very few marks.

Spot on Graeme.  I had BMW repaint and fit clear film under warranty due to the "rash"  I then had the mud flaps fitted. Agree not the best looking but saved any more similar issues.

I've looked at the film, though would still have to rectify before fitting, if the film was installed with no flaps, I'd think that would receive the gravel rash and look worse.
I doubt the AUC warranty will pick up the tab for painting.

My thoughts are leading towards a new set of flaps and have them painted at the same time prior to fitting or get a three pack rattle can set (which proved durable on the silver boot trim of last car).

Just a FYI - part of the mud flap install required cutting out some of the M Sport trim but not visible after installed. So once on they stay on  :o

Hi
That's not good if you have to cut the MSport trim to fit, and when a new owner removes it they'll be in for a surprise. :)

I decided that the existing E70 BMW mudflats just are too ugly for me.

So I was at my friends a few weeks back and he had his Range Rover outside and he had fitted the genuine front mudflaps (with electric side steps) but these were a lot neater just going up the arches about 6 inches but dropping down and curving under the sill.

They looked neat and suited the car and about half the size of the BMW ones.

So I took a couple of pics of those and searched eBay and found some on there not genuine Land Rover but replicas that fit range rovers without electric side steps and I have now received them so just need to fit them.

However as I'm cutting them to fit the BMW profile which could is different I saw no point paying a premium for genuine ones at this stage, if they are no good them I may go to genuine ones at some point.

They do look good and would love to see the pictures once fitted

Time won't allow any quick action for me to change, a Google search did pull up a couple of Oem painted flaps and the look better and more blended
