I think you will find quite a few have been remapped, by Jason and most say it's improved their X5. He will Taylor the map to what you want.

Most see to have a smile after visiting him.  :))

Remap done!

The car was booked in with Jason at BWchiptuning to have at least 50bhp and 50lbs torque added.

The results so far....pickup from 20mph is rapid for a two tonne truck! I took some timings before and after the mapping to give you an idea of the results.

0-60mph is now approx 5.8secs standard was 6.6ecs. These are rough timings. Now the next timings are the most important for me, the overtaking power for when on A and B roads. The 40d when standard does 50mph to 120mph in around 27secs, now it does it in 20secs!! All in D mode!! So DS mode or manual will be quicker! It pulls at the same rate all they way through to at least 120mph, zero drop in pull and zero flat spots. Another note, 20 to 70mph happens quick too so be aware of your braking distance, especially in a car weighing over two tonne! I will measure this time too when time permits.

I will get her on a rolling road soon but Im not that fussed about that to be honest. I do regular long motorway journeys so will report back mpg gains.

Jasons service was impeccable and I was fully informed of what the process was going to be. One point to note is Jason ran a full diagnostic on my car prior to show me what was what prior to him touching the car and ran it again after the remapped ECU was refitted. Top work!

If you own a 40D I highly recommend you get this remap done. The car is more responsive, pulls very strong and most importantly it is very smooth through out the rev range and gear change.

Im with Direct Line and it worked out £50 extra. They have a remap % rule, if you get remap greater than 26% of the cars original power they will not insure you, I think it was 26%. Either way they were happy to insure me.

It cost £550 and it takes around 5hrs work. I looked at DMS, AMD and Evolve and after asking loads of questions I went with Jason. If there is anyone in the UK who knows these ECUs and more importantly how to get into them without causing stress fractures in your ECU board I would like to know. These boards are £1200 and if he happens to break it he will replace it. When you see his office/lab you will understand, its like a mad professors lab! ;-)

This is a video showing Hartge mapping results a 40D and was the reason I had mine done. Mine does it quicker too!

They add approx 50bhp and 100nm in their map. 7seconds is all the proof I needed to get mine remapped.

Check the maximum torque that the gearbox can take before you do it though.  Exceed it at your peril.  And tell your insurers too as it's a mod which they (a) want to know about and (b) may now refuse cover for or (c) may be happy with for small fee  :)

:) I was surprised they were happy to insure me, but most of my other things in life are insured with them, our pets, home and others cars etc.

When I had mine remapped, my insurer (Swinton) ran for the hills with their heads on fire... ho hum. At least they refunded the outstanding money on my insurance.

Had to go to Admiral, but please don't take this as an endorsement as next year they can go forth and multiply themselves. I declared all my mods and I think the cost of the policy went up by roughly £100, so all n all not too bad
