First MOT

Well the x5 had its first mot yesterday and it passed with flying colours

However both wiper blades are split and the rear seat belts is chewed through off the dog

I didn't get the emissions sheet or brake test

I watched back the dash cam and the water got checked and the screen wash topped up it went up and down on a lift

But never went anywhere near a brake test machine or head light alignment

Fairly sure this is against all the rules

But I've got a MOT  :) :)

Interesting.  Perhaps they can't brake test AWD cars but the headlight aim should be possible regardless.

Sounds suspicious in any event.

I once took a P38 for MOT at a council station and they didn't test the brakes. When I queried it, the tester said, if you got here without crashing into the rear of someone, with a heavy car like that, your brakes are fine.

He had a point.

When I took the X5, he just drove it 1/4 mile around the block. He said they can't test permanant 4 wheel drive cars on the tester, as you can't drive one axle without the other.
Happen as well because the handbrake was crap.

Yes taking a car for an MOT can be nerve wracking experience even if a new car and glad it passed.

Well fingers crossed as my car goes in for its 2nd MOT this week. The first one was done via BMW garage where I bought and hopefully it should be okay only done low mileage this year.

Sorry guys but my grasp of the situation is a main dealer has charged me for an mot that wasn't completed properly as I know the car should have failed

You biggin to wonder if they have ever done the work properly

HI

That's not good, I thought they were more stringent and time slots from the last few cars I have taken.

However, I guess it depends who is carrying out the MOT.

They should take it on the road for the brake test which is done with a tapley brake tester.
I would report them DVSA.
How do you know your car is safe with a test like that.

Yes a tapley would have been good but it didn't even move off the site considering it was end of warranty check as well I am at a loss

Wouldn't get away with anything over here , our MOT test centres are very very tight  and you go through the test with the vehicle so you see all results as they are completed  and a full print out at the end
