Real world mpg

Post by Marc » Mon Mar 13, 2017 7:17 pm

Hi,

I have the 30d and am currently at 26 mpg according to the computer, mostly town/dual carriageway driving. Seems low according to the official figures. I also read a post somewhere that the 40d is more efficient than the 30d.

Just wondered what other people where getting.

Mine's around 30mpg around the houses and 35+ on a run. I have a bit of a heavy right foot but rarely use sport mode and just leave it in comfort. I've found the trip computer to be reasonably accurate to the extent that I don't regularly check it (which wasn't the case with the Discovery).

As to whether the engine loosens up with use, I'll have to let you know as I've only done 11.5k miles since new in 2014. That'll stay low for the foreseeable future as I've bought a little something for some summer fun.

55,000 miles in and averaging 33.2mpg. Mainly my 130 mile round-trip commute and motorway runs / around town at weekends. If I try I can get north of 35 from a tank full.

On my 30d my trip computer (can't remember when I last reset it) is saying 34mpg with a mixture of driving.  I'm at 16k miles.  On some longer motorway runs I almost scraped 39mpg but I was lifting and coasting like an F1 driver to achieve that.

I'm usually in Eco Pro mode mainly too.  For me it is a smoother response when driving.  'm not sure if it makes much difference to fuel economy.

In my 30d i went for the weekend to Somerset and recorded 33mpg. Driving was 70% motorway / dual carriageway and when possible i wasnt hanging about.

When i use Eco pro it feels like i left the handbrake on.

Hi.......  Mine is 2016 40D m sport and is  a shade under 5 months old.  This morning before I went out it showed 30 mpg and has done for a few weeks......  mostly just knocking about.      Imagine my delight today ,just before getting home when it jumped up to 30.1 mpg.  That's what I call progress !

I achieve about 70mpg on short journeys with my 40e plugged in at both ends;longer trips are late 30s.
