Hello from new X5 owner

Post by Barroni » Mon Mar 06, 2017 10:47 am

Good morning all

Great forum!!
Just purchased my first ever 4*4.  Its an X5 40D (2011) Se edition.  Traded in the trusty S-Max after 6 years.
Only driven it the 70 miles from the garage but all seems fine.  Still coming to terms with the sheer size
of it.  It makes the S-max feel quite small.  First impressions are great.  Loving the media package/satnav with streaming audo ( no cables all over the place)

Only thing im missing is the drivers handbook. I found it online in PDF but its not the same.  Anyone know if I can buy one from BMW?

Look forward to using and participating in the forum

If you lurk on ebay, you can buy manuals for most models - the BMW price is likely to be ridiculous.

I assume you did not buy it from a main BMW dealer then?

The car looks great- you will notice a small difference in power  :))

Thanks guys.  Just picked up a manual on Ebay for £15.

Car came from a prestige specialist in Basingstoke but not a BMW franchise.  Had all the service history books just missing the owners hand book.

I had the 2.5T S-max but it does not compete with the grin that is created when dropping the hammer in the X5. A two tonne beast simply shouldn't be that quick lol.

Try an M50d and you'll get an even bigger grin.  They are just obscenely quick for car that size  8)

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

Congrats on your new X5, yes the size can be a shock came from and Astra to an E53 BMW, had to change the gate layout on the drive to accommodate the new car.

It was even worse with E70 version as that was even longer and meant a complete re think but wouldn't change it, not even for an F15 X5,  but that's just my view at the moment, which I'm sure will change. :))

Hope you enjoy the X5
