Hi All

So, just collected a X5 40d Msport - really pleased I must say.

Came from the XC90 II which I liked but somehow got bored of the design, thought the X5 looked a bit nicer.

I had the X5 25d in 2014 (pre-order) one of the first delivered, and then RR Sport V8 in between, so had my fun with large 4x4s - I am hoping to enjoy this one as a keeper

It has 7 seats, pan roof, privacy glass as optionals - good spec overall

Couple of questions I have, considering 16 plate, looks like built in February 2016, delivery end of March 16 - would it have the new idrive system which I read is really good, and did it have the upgraded sound system?

I can't seem to figure that out - haven't driven on motorways yet, and I can see some changes from my 25d such as lane warning and some other bits - does it have adaptive cruise control as standard?

Welcome. If your speakers say "Harmon Kardon" on them then you have the upgraded ones.

If your idrive menu is in the form of tiles rather than a list then you have idrive 5.0. I dont think it came in until later than your car though.

The latest iDrive was introduced on cars built around end of August 2016, so I would suggest you've got the previous version.

As an aside, it seems that the X5 in the American market have a touchscreen too - but not i believe here?

My 66 plate has touchscreen along with the new idrive

I didn't think I'd use it but I do more than I thought I would.

Hi Mavg,

My X5 was October 2015.  I was told that the sound system is upgraded in my car too.  It isn't the Harmon Kardon top system but I understand it is the 'Professional' system which is a step up from the base.  I'm not sure if it was possible to have the base configuration on an X5 to be fair.

From what Mogsyman says the new iDrive is really good.  It looks like we missed out!

Thats great - so i guess my new one will be the same. There's no mention of it anywhere in the brochures!

I always threaten to amputate everyone's fingers that touch my touch screen display 

I always use the buttons to avoid the fingerprints ....

That's because you're a murderer and from Holland, nothing to do with finger prints  )

I've got an oleophobic touch screen in the Škoda though I've no idea if that means it hates some nationality or other or just doesn't suffer from fingerprints at all ???

My Sept 16 66 plate also has the touch screen which is very good but like previously mentioned I don't use it as I don't like fingerprints all over it! :'(

so do all 66 plate x5s have the new idrive ?

I'm guessing its driven by the number of posts rather than when you joined.
