Rear door light drivers side comes on when door is opened but when you get as far as the first resistance spring of door the light goes out. All other door lights work as should. When light goes out there is 5.2v at the pins of the door light. Any suggestions welcome, Issuing rear passenger with a torch isn't an option.

I'll check the other voltages but pretty sure they are in the 12v area as the rear door light worked in the front and front door light showed same symptoms when in back. As to your second post,

Hi
Given that you have stopped the light units around and have the same problem then it sounds to me the wiring to the rear door is faulty.
As it only makes a connection when the door is only opened slightly and when the door is opened fully the wireing is stretched the connection breaks.
I had similar on an Astra and it was the wiring from the door pillar to the door that was faulty and needed repairing and a painĀ to fix. But it was where the wiring folded in the rubber concertina covering so worth a check.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for that Graeme, it probably will be a PITA but now that you suggest that I assume the lights are operated by the inevitable module buried in some inaccessible place. I don't suppose you know where that is and I could check there for output?
