No, not the furry friend kind, but the expensive precious metal containing can on your exhaust system.
Apparently the agreement between scrap yards and the police over reducing cable thefts by yards refusing to handle cable except through approved channels, coupled to the increase in the values of precious metals such as Palladium, Rhodium and Platinum means that there has been an upswing in catalytic converter thefts.
I don't know what these parts cost new, but I bet they're not cheap on any car.
The AA have an article suggesting a possible deterrent using a marking system......

I think Retainagroup used to do the glass marking for the VW Group in the UK a few years back.
