Aware of pro's and con's of LPG. The purpose of this thread is NOT to argue re these.
With rising petrol costs rising a good LPG installation may be difficult for many petrol owners to easily dismiss.
I understand some have reported false SES/CEL lamp activations as a result of having an LPG instalation.
I have 2 issues with this :
1. If dash lamp illuminations occur I wont know whether to consider or dismiss.
2. The light is not able to be dimmed & as such couild prove to be distracting &/or irritating.
Just wondering how many with LPG converted cars have had this issue.
Perhaps those voting either way can state which instalation they have e.g Prins etc.

Are you thinking of going LPG then?
Was having a discussion with a mate over the weekend as he has just sold his Land Rover because of the price of LPG going up in price. He was finding it not much cheaper to run LPG as the cost of a yearly service, lower mpg, were making (for him) petrol and LPG very similar price. Suppose it depends on mileage that you do in a year. For me at the moment it would not be worth it as I only do about 6000 miles a year. One more point is how far do you have to drive to an LPG station or is it on a route you do regular.

Hmm........Certainly I have recently given it more consideration than I had in the past.
Instalation costs & servicing costs are negatives.
I currently only commute a max of 3, 000 miles at my own expense & reduce fuel costs further by often using the Z3.
I have considered swaping to an X5 3.0d and even considered X3 diesel & other smaller BMW diesel options.
Just weighing up options at moment.................I have a realistic expectation of being a many thousands down each year due to higher wage deductions & reduced pay on back of austerity measures.......Ironic when I hear of big bucks buisnesses managing to pay ing far less percentile tax than I do.

Hi All,
New to this site but have used it since getting the X5 in Dec....Its a great site & has proved to be very informative.
I do get the SES light - 2003 3.0i S - Romano sytem.
I have had the code removed & it shows up usual emissions sensor, after a period of driving on gas the light will re appear. The local LPG installer & seller of the vehicle informed me this is not uncommon. (he did not do the original install – but repaired the conversion)
Surely this is the case of the type of system installed?

My X5 had the BRC system and the SES light used to come on now and again. I was also told by the BRC service specialist when it went in for it's yearly service that this was quite normal and not to worry. Also know someone who had a Frontera on LPG with different system and that was the same.

Prins VSi on my 4.4 and no issues (touches wood) since the install was done in September last year. I do probably 20K a year and have two LPG stations on my route to work so well worth it for me.
