So, after picking up our x3 from a private dealer we get home and my wife says to me, there is no power in it. Its ok in 1st and second but in 3rd and higher when you put your foot down it wont go past 3k revs and 40 mph is the fastest i managed to get it too.
Ok dealer has it checked, needs dpf regen. Car seems to run fine now.
Then wife says i dont think the parking sensors are working, again on phone to dealer, has it checked, its going in next week to have a new sensor fitted as there is an error on one.
Now we realise when we start the engine from cold the car stalls and i have to restart again befor it will turn over properly.
I bought nee filters and oil to service it, will change the glow plugs at the same time, hopefully its not injectors.
Also there is a tiny whine when driving. My brother inlaw recons its the clutch pressure plate? How much does a new one of those cost.
This car is already turning out to be an expensive purchase.

Get yourself a code reader like a C110/C310 or Carly.
Do you know if it's had the swirl flaps removed? If it hasn't if changing glow plugs do them at the same time.

Is it getting to temperature properly? (Check it reaches >85c hidden computer) as thermostats are common failures
What mileage?
Is service history up to date?
Any receipts for Fuel filter and Oil Breather?
If you have the old type oil breather (loo roll) change it to the later Vortex version.

No receipts, service history is up to date although i dont think the last was done or they didnt reset the oil service indicator as its only done 2000 since last oil service and says it needs oil service in 3000 miles.
I always service a car when i buy it anyway.
Millage is 105000, i dont think the swirl flaps have been done, may do them when changing glow plugs if its an issue.

Sod the code reader and sod doing anymore work on it thoroughly check and double check everything works and I mean everything then straight back to the dealers with the faults and get them to fix every one.

If the glow plugs or glow plug module isn't working the car won't regen the DPF, so as said get the codes read.
With all those faults I'd be tempted to get my money back.

Gotta agree with Reush, you've bought the car from a dealer, and paid more than you would have done than buying privately, for the reason it affords you some form of protection..
With the number of issues you have, I'd take it back to them and ask for them to make it good in a reasonable time, or get a refund. You are within your rights.

Car was bought sold as seen since i knocked the price down quiet a bit. Lucky he has sorted the other issues so far. Ill see what he will do about the start up if it still has a problem after service.

I didn't think 'Sold as Seen' was legal any longer for a car dealer selling a car on the retail market?
