Hi guys
Just bought a 2004 53 3ltr diesel sport
Got a few issues to look at.
1. Drivers door window not working, I've tried the hold unlock button so all windows go down then hold lock button so all go up all work except drivers door,
So thinking it's not the switch, have to look into it more
How long do I need to disconnect battery for before I can disconnect door airbag.

2,keep getting check tail lights message come up but all lights working.
Any ideas?

3, want to fit these new type aftermarket projector lights but can only seem to find the ones that fit to the headlights without xenon and self adjustment,

As you say you have just bought the vehicle, check tail lights haven't been fitted with LEDs. that were probably advertised as error free but aren't.
As for headlights, look on the FK Automotive web sight, I'm sure you'll find something to your taste.
Don't need to disconnect battery to take door card off, you don't need to disconnect the door air bag, just unbolt it and leave it plugged in
Have you checked fuses

For the tailight error have a look at the bulb holders, check for corrosion or bent contacts. Is the warning on constantly or intermittent?

Hi,

Tail light was a common failure / warranty issue back in the day . They corrode internally. Remove the lights which is easy , take the bulbs out and clean up the metal conduitĀ  everywhere in theĀ  conductor run, not just the bulb holders. Also do the other end where the block connector goes. Wet/dry paper , make it nice and sparkle.......and also make sure they are perfectly aligned and the bulbs fit well . It doesn't take much for one of the prongs not to connect 100%. Was a common problem on many BMW's of old not just E53's so beware buying second hand ad may look ok but won't solve your issue unless you can test them before you pay.

Regards

Nat.
