Carly app.?

Post by Nine468 » Mon Dec 19, 2016 2:11 pm

Hi.
Yes im asking more questions about the carly app...

Mainly to those that already have it and are using it.

Does the "app" purchase come with a wi fi connector that fits into the diagnostic port in the drivers footwell. Im looking at the "android" app....
Im guessing that this connects via wi-fi to your app on your smart phone.? And the screen shows all the relevant info...

Do you keep the adapter permanently plugged in, or remove it, only using it when needed.

Thanks..

Mine didn't.  I had to buy the adapter from them separately.

I don't leave it connected unless I am using it.  Android uses Bluetooth to form a local network and IOS uses WiFi, again setting up a local network rather than appearing on your home system.  You need the specific adapter for your OS - Android in your case.

I got the Carly as well, bought from Amazon with the IOS app (try to avoid Android as it is a p.i.t.a. to use compared to IOS).

Going to switch on the digital speedo to try it, and perhaps the automatic mirror folding function. Works on most newish BMW models by the looks of it, and have tested it to set some really useful stuff such as the puddle lights coming on when using reverse  :))

Yes, my Audi and Porsche both have the nice big speedo in the middle. I was hoping that it was going to be the number you see when you set the cruise? I guess it is not then …

What else have you set? I was just browsing through the list and most were things I did not fancy (like making the LEDs more bright and so).

[/quote] the size of the digital speedo is e same font as MPG etc on mine, may be different on yours as it's LCI CIC
My mirrors are set to fold, but you have to keep your finger on the lock button for a second, failing to do so just locks the doors, which is good as you don't need the mirrors in every time you park.
I have a problem where the mirror (N/S ) doesn't always return to a previously memorised position, I've read that the mirror memory works on a grid reference /resistance position, much the same way as a touch screen knows where you are pressing . Due to moisture in the connections etc the resistance is different so it looses its way, and has to be corrected via the adjuster.

Well im finally going to pull the trigger on the purchase of this app.
Im going to go full on and get the paid for "pro" version.
Just one quick question.
Once the app is downloaded, can it be transfered onto another device.?
Ie from phone to tablet.?
They will both be android devices...

OR

Will i have to purchase another app.?

The reason i ask is i have the phone , but im going to be getting a tablet shortly, in the next couple of weeks.. And ill more than likely use the tablet to check the cars specs...

Thanks...

As above, it will be available on all android devices you are logged into with the same Gmail address, I have it on my phone and two tablets.
