M sport suspension delete?
M sport suspension delete?
Hi guys just found a e70 m sport 40d really good spec but it was ordered with m sport suspension delete I haven't driven it yet 400 miles away but have test drove ones with the sport suspension and was happy with it I'm coming from a discovery 3 and enjoyed how much better the x5 held the road just a bit worried that the standard suspension will be more like the discovery I have read that it's not that bad and if anything the sport suspension is too hard just don't want to travel that far and not like the drive is it possible to retrofit the sport suspension?perhaps someone could shed a bit more information on it for me thanks in advance
Re: M sport suspension delete?
You will need to find all the relevant parts unless BMW offer a retrofit kit.
Have a look on Realoem (copy of current parts database) and use the last 7 characters of your VIN in 'serial number'. If there is no official kit offered then it will be a trawl through the different screens to find everything. Don't expect it to be cheap, especially if you need to add air suspension hardware.

Worry not. I have x40d msport with the suspension delete and its brilliant. 7seat so has rear bags. More than one person has commented on how good the ride is. Running 20s with run flats. I think it's a great combo and wonder if the dealers knew this when speccing these cars. If anything I find the tyres the weak point as they don't grip as well as you'd think.
I wouldn't even consider retrofit as useful or financially viable. You could fit non run flats and or smaller wheels to soften the ride if car is out of warranty and you don't worry about diff issues

Even with Sport suspension deleted it wo t be as woolly as the disco.
That's the trouble with putting national in the auto trader search, all the good ones seem to be hundreds of miles away.
In my eyes buying something to then change the suspension, is like buying g a white one and having it sprayed black.

Get winter tyres. Much better grip now it is getting chilly. I run 19" Pirelli RFT and can still hoon about. Once the temps get below 7°C they are worth considering. Have sets for both cars now.

Re: M sport suspension delete?
Thanks guys you have reassured trouble is I'm in Northern Ireland and it's very hard to find any good spec x5s going the main dealer route just waiting on it to come in so I can book my flights and see if I can get some money knocked off!!
Re: M sport suspension delete?
Im on my second e70 and the first one had sport suspension delete.
Didn't really bother me and it drove brilliantly.
I got rid after 3rd child was born and as soon as one came out of a child seat I got another, this time with normal sport suspension.
It didn't cross my mind at the time and I bought it over the phone, but as soon as I collected it and drove it home I wished i'd spent more time looking for one with the delete again.
Night and day different.
Have got used to it now, but if you can find one, its a much better drive, in pretty much all driving condition's unless you are pushing on, which to be honest, for me, is about 1% of the time.
99% of the time, its pretty firm indeed.

Re: M sport suspension delete?
Ours has the M-sport suspension. It is comfortable, but in terms of SUV comfort it is a bit jittery. It doesn't move about everywhere however it is 'involving' in that all bumps are felt through the seats in the car. The car does stay flat when cornering which is impressive for such a tall car.
If I were you, I'd just leave it as is. Lots of thought went into the suspension by the engineers, so the suspension is designed to fulfil its purpose. If you really don't want it, then just look into conventional tyres and a spare wheel in the back.
