Hi there, I had a look on Gumtree in your area but did not have time to go through thelist. There appear to be a few X5's in Derby for sale.

Nothing worth buying though mate. Missed a couple that would need converting but ideally it'll be already done for me.

The 3.0i petrol model is not available in abundance, there were far fewer around than the 3.0d or the bigger petrol versions, 4.4, 4.6 or 4.8is. If you are going LPG why not include the V8 petrols in your search, you might find more LPG conversions in the V8 range as well. There was very little difference in fuel consumption between the 3.0i and the nig V8s, strangely enough, as the smaller engine had to work like crazy due to the weight of the X5. I had a nice 3.0i for a while, but found it rather underpowered and switched to a 4.8is and now an E70. Watch out for that GM gearbox, if you do find a 3.0i, as there were known issues.

Even for me at 43 the V8's are double the insurance cost of the 3.0 which is defeating the object of saving money using LPG.
But typing this now I've not actually worked out how much fuel I'll save over 12 months compared the £300 extra insurance.

How old are you Lez?
My current 2004 530d Sport Touring is £364 per year
A 2004 4.4 X5 with LPG is £663
and to change over until May next year with my current insurers is an extra £200!!
