OK guys first post so be gentle

I'm currently on the hunt for my first X5
Seen a couple of contenders, one being an sd which is a bonus
The only issue is the lack of heated seats which help with my bad back

So is there a cost effective way of retro fitting or will it cost me an arm and a leg

Keep looking would be my advice.  You need the right wiring and controls in place and would need to take the current seat covers off to retrofit with covers containing the elements.

Just my opinion, but you will always regret not having the heated seats.........that would be an absolute no go, leather seats should always have a heated option IMO, you can choose not to use it, especially in cars which were really expensive new, cannot understand why the spec would be "optional extra" for heated drivers seat.

Hi

As the others have said get the right spec,

The reason is retro fitting on an E70 or latter models is more costly, for example I was looking for a heated steering wheel. quite a rare option and retro fit for it is about £2k including a new wheel coding buttons etc, so I ended up and compromised and bought some gloves.

However, I wanted heated rear seats on the car and found one which had the rest of the spec including the heated rear seats, so I bought it.

Also remember, although you may not mind the certain features like not having heated seats any fuhture buyers will look for it come the point you sell it on, making the car harder to sell.
