Afternoon,
I have done a few searches on this and the only thread that came close warned me nobody had posted for 120 days and suggested I started my own!
So here it is - the 2007 X5 I looked at had a USB in the glovebox, which i assume is an 'aux' type affair and will allow me to connect my iPhone 6 and play music directly - is this right or wrong??
I didn't check the centre console/armrest area but read another thread which suggested that this process could only take place through the centre console/armrest USB??
Could someone confirm either way for me please??
Cheers
Si

Re: USB Connections and Music??
Hi
I also have an E70 and for my iPhone6 the dealer said I needed a BMW lead which has both the USB and jack connections not too sure why but it works.
I tried the same type of lead from my old 1 series and that wouldn't work

Re: USB Connections and Music??
My E70 has a USB in the glove box and one in the centre console. My car is a CIC model, so might be different to the CCC versins which 2007 ones will be. The USB in the glove box charges my iPhone via a standard usb charging cable, but doesn't play or stream music from it or from a USB stick. However, it upgrades software via the USB port from a USB stick - like the mapping software, BMW software upgrades etc.
The centre console USB port streams music and plays back music from iphone or USB stick, also works to load my BMW Apps interface and stream from the apps. I don't have a BMW USB lead, just a standard iphone one. Not sure it makes any difference. My car is a 2012 (model build year 2011) 40d M Sport with extended Bluetooth and telematics plus the combox.

I have CCC IDrive 2007 in my 3 series with the aux USB/ phono plug in the armrest . I bought a lead off eBay and lhave an old iPhone 4 in there all the time and use it as an iPod.
On the IDrive I go to the top of the screen where you select FM etc scroll across to AUX and click to select, the IDrive shows you the songs / artists etc, as the phone would do , you select what you want using the controller and it plays via the stereo. Simples. Great sound too.
Think the USB in glovebox is for IDrive software upgrades ,

I've got similar to this, note mines iPhone 4s, a available in lightning too

Re: USB Connections and Music??
USB in armrest can be easy added with different hardware for CCC and CIC versions.
Re: USB Connections and Music??
Plug one of these in and you'll have streaming over Bluetooth and track control from the steering wheel. No album art though.
