Fronty Cupholder Replacement

Hey Guys,

The previous owner to me had a ipod kit installed (intervee??) and he drilled a hole through the bottom of cupholder so that he could wire it through into the centre console.

I dont see myself getting one of these kits any time in the future, if every so I was wondering if it is possible to replace the two cupholders on their own or are they plastic welded to the rest of the centre console.

Has anyone ever done any sort of work like this to give me a clue how to replace it? Would it have to be removed from below or pulling it out from above.

Thoughts?

Hi Alex,

This is a pig of a job.

They are screwed in underneath, so you need to get the centre console out...

Part should be available - use realoem.com to see if it is there.

NO!! Thats not what I wanted to hear.

Is there are guide on how to take the centre console out?

So that's what it was for.

Mine has this DIY hole in the bottom. I just cut a piece of thin rubber to a circular shape and dropped it in as a cover.

Have to say, that pay be a better idea. Just dont like having a car thats been cut up.

Get some carpet (car type or just balck or even carpet tile and cut to shape) - then glue into place or use double-sided carpet tape.

An idea of what has to be done:

I think that will leave the finish looking very non OEM.

Im just playing with the idea of making a exact template up that I can wrap and tape into place, or get another set of cupholders.

Ive seen some on ebay that I could get.

Im more worried about the amount of work it would take to get the console out to replace the part.

Yeah Ive got that tray. Unfortuntely still doen't put my mind at rest that theres a bloody great hole in the centre console

LOL! I thought it was strange to have a spanner in the middle!

You must be using your teeth an awful lot then!

Go in and ask parts - think I got mine for under Â£10 - pretty useless though.
