E70 tyre pressure monitoring system.

I changed over to winter wheels yesterday and after about 100 miles, while on the motorway today, the TPMS warning came on -idrive and on the dashboard. I have checked and the tyres are fine. Do I need to do anything special to reset the system and avoid this alarming warning going off randomly? The winters are an OEM BMW set as per the configurator for my car on the BMW site. I thought that the TPMS on X5s for the nonUS market use a rolling radius rather than individual valve stem monitors like the US.

I've had a single tyre replaced that has caused the tyre pressure warning to activate. You need to set all the pressures correctly, then reset the TMS system on the IDrive. When reset, the system remembers the rolling circumference. If any tyre looses pressure the wheel sensors can pick up the different distance traveled per revelution, so triggering the TMS.
I have the CCC, and yours is CIC so will be different to reset. On mine you go to the top line with curser, press the controller down, this brings up the reset page.

Managed to reset it quite easily on the idrive, its even easier in CIC cars. Will do a double check of pressures as soon as I can later today and reset again, just to make sure. The US have the individual TPMS metal valve thngys, I seem to remember, but apart from a battery system on the old 4.6 E53, I think UK cars have the rolling radius system across E53 facelifts and E70s.

Only the V8 engined E53 vehicles had the sensors, all other models use ABS based rolling system. F15/16 have sensor units but I think they also give actual pressure data sent and visible to the driver.
