X3 E83 - 7 Digit Postcode issue with new 2016 BMW High Satnav Disc?

Post by D3NO_L » Mon Oct 31, 2016 2:11 pm

Good Afternoon All!

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this issue please, as I have searched the internet and youtube until I am blue in the face on this issue...

I have recently bought new satnav discs for my 2004 X3 E83 - I have updated my software to the latest V32 version (?) and replaced my old 07-2 maps dvd with the new 2016 High Disc, but I can still only use 5 digit Postcode entry? Plus I can not see Speed Cameras (both of which were promised to me by the seller?!)...  ???

Any assistance welcome here please.

Many Thanks,
Dean  :)

I take it the 2004 runs the older mk4 dvd drive navigation?

The 7 digit post code entry is well hidden if it is. From memory you need to go through the information on location menu and you'll find the postcode option.

Re speed camera, have you turned the function on? The locations are on the disc but the warning is part of the software iirc.
I hated it on my e46, even with the warning off it silenced the music when i went anywhere near a camera, even if on a different nearby road.

Hi MattX,

Yes I believe it is the Mk4 system (new to all this)...
I can send photos of the SatNav unit and old disc if that helps?

Do you have a 'how to guide or instructions'?
Well I would settle for just the 7 digit postcode entry and not fussed about the Speed Camera's in that case!  :))

Many Thanks,
Dean :)

To be honest, I would put money on you getting the hump with the 7 digit entry pretty quick as a) it's fiddly to get to and b) doesn't get the right address very often when you find the right sub menu.

We're too reliant on postcodes these days. I always asked peoples address, when they sent me their postcode I explained that's not an address.

I certainly do agree with you, but it's just so much easier with the full postcode when you're in a hurry... Bring back the old AA or A-Z annual road map books!  :))
