After previously working, my satnav is acting up(not recognising the disc) and I have checked the disc and it is a copy. I just wondered if there is anyone with a genuine disc near the BB4 postcode who I can pop in the dvd drive so that I  can check to see if that is the problem.

I'm BL8 3,  so not a million  miles from you . this is a disc that was in my 330i  CCC IDrive satnav. I'm sure someone will be able to advise if it's suitable, what X5 have you got E53 or E70?

I have a 54 reg E53 

I think it will be compatible but I'm sure someone can confirm

Just been looking on the internet, looks like E53 MK4 DVD satnav need the HIGH discs. Whereas mine is for the CCC IDrive system. So looks to be uncopatable.

E53 definitely need the HIGH disc version, just to confirm.  You can sometimes pick them up cheaply on ebay - maybe cheaper than drive ng a long way to test one.

Thanks. I'm just not convinced it is all down to the disc as it worked fine when I bought the car. Just one of those annoying teething troubles you get with a new car!

The MK4 satnav unit is notoriously flakey - BMW have replaced three in my E53 under warranty so far and its not picking up satellites again since they last had it, so maybe yet another one coming up......

The laser is a problem on many units which won't read - you can get kits to repair it if you are brave with a soldering iron.  Or contact Baris (do a search on here - he repairs the BM54 units (radio) and I think the satnavs as well. 

i have a genuine dvd map disc you can try which came from my e53 x5 and i live in BB4!
