New owner of a nice 2001 3.0D

Hi All,

I used to be big on the M3 forums but 10 years ago I sold my last car and have been travelling / living in a place where I've not needed one. I've got a child on the way and thought it was the right time to buy again and, of course, I wouldn't buy anything but a BMW.

I used to work in the city where money was not so important but now as an entrepreneur I have a limited budget so went with an older, low miles X5. What I got has a few minor problems that I'm hoping I can get some help with so cheers to those who lend their support. I'll try and document any improvements or modifications I add along the way, first step though is new tires, possibly upgrading the radio to a sat nav system and then general cleaning and maintenance.
