3.0si prices???

Post by Motor84 » Mon Feb 14, 2011 1:34 pm

Hi guys, I've been away from xdrivers for a bit being sans X5! But always looking for my next one. I noticed something funny with X5 prices. Maybe its just because there are not many of them around, but 3.0 petrol E70s seem to hold their value. None under £30,000, whereas you can pick up a diesel 3.0 E70 for as low as £25,000 now. Am I missing something? The MPG on the E70 petrols is not great so why the highish value? I thought an 07 3.0si would be the cheapest way to get into an E70, but obviously not.

I noticed that too, but I think it's mental! Webuyanycar offered me £21k for mine.

It is very strange. I had an E53 3.0i, and the price of those v E53 diesels is completely the other way round. Petrol E53s much cheaper than diesels. I can only imagine its because they are rare and are catering for those who really want a petrol still, and in turn don't care about MPG. I must admit, that 3.0i engine sounds good. I have the same one in my 3er touring.

3.0si prices???

The 3.0si is a great engine, revs beautifully and makes a great sound. Love the higher revs when you push the loud pedal. Having said that it's not a bad idea from a cost perspective. Mine was about 1500 quid cheaper than the diesel when I bought it and it took over three years and 30k miles for that saving to be wiped out by a diesel equivalent.

Heres one for sale. 57 plate with a few miles under its belt. £31k. Very weird.

That's a little higher spec than mine, but not much - certainly not 10k worth. And also it is almost twice the mileage!

And yes they have dropped it. Only reason I bought mine was delivery time - I was quoted 12 weeks delivery at the point of order rather than 26 for a diesel and I needed to change quicker than that.
