mine has stopped working so i have tried the obvious manly things like hitting it,harsh words,closing the door on it with slight anger but nothing is working

These are quite generic across a lot of BMW's over a number of years, so don't limit your search to here matey.
Check out e46zone, M3cutters etc etc too and don't pay over £40
