Watched lots of youtube vids and none seem to have an rpm limit change up point at 5200rpm
They all seem to be under 5k.
Surely not everyone is in D and not DS!
In D mode even at wot it will change at 4750rpm
Our x5 goes to 5200rpm in DS under full throttle runs.
Is this normal?

Re: DS mode. X40d Does yours pull to 5200rpm?
Hi
If you have a look at the BMW site link on the latest x5 4.0d the graph seems to shows theengine revs to less than 5000 rpm
https://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/new-vehicle ... gines.html
The graph only shows 4.0D but in order to get the max torque and power I would think the test would have been carried out in DS mode so your car does seem to rev higher.
I'm not not sure how old your car is and whether an E70 or F15 and whether you bought it from new or secondhand?
I guess there could have been be a software update by BMW changing the rev limit since it was built, and possibly our resident expert X5Sport would know that, or possibly if you bought it secondhand it could have been have been mapped by a previous owners improve the response / power of the car.
Hope that helps a bit

No idea, I don't push my engines that hard and I'm not going to try it out.

Thanks.
E70 x40d bought as an AUC
Now with 40k miles
I'd be surprised if it had been mapped as an AUC car. I always thought bmw would easily find out and wipe.
Needs the ecu out too apparently.
Pushing these cars isn't a problem as long as they are warmed up.
Diesels should be bullet proof and they love a good Italian tune up esp to clean the dpf. I'm really impressed by the x40d performance. It sounds great too.
Guess I just need to check out another car or have someone try theirs out.

Finally worked out why. My car is std.
You have to be in Sport Manual mode for the car to go into the higher rpm area. In sport it behaves just like all the other you tube vids.
Not sure which way is actually faster.

Not really related to the thread but a few months ago Bmw took my remapped F10 535d in and sold it as an AUC about a week later![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/wink.gif)
