Have you looked at detailing? I have looked into this and it's all about the bodywork prep work. I am investing in Crystal Serum Black as this is the one that all the 'experts' are advising

Mine was supposed to be done pre-collection however the uncertainly of arrival date meant it wasn't possible.
Booked in for 8/9 October for paint correction and all over ceramic sealant. It will new new all over again!

Re: New Member
Essentially.........a dealer will offer Supaguard or similar or a ceramic coating that provides protection to the paintwork and reduces the cleaning required. Dealers make a % on selling this along with GAP, Tyre insurance. however, when you receive a new car, there will always be slight imperfections, marks, swirls, uneven paint that needs a polishing/prep in order to take the coating effectively. Professional retailers do this for their living and you can search on-line about all of this. Prices vary but have a look at something like G-Techniq for likely costs.

Re: New Member
Well I've just collected and....
Covered in swirls and one 'high spot' on the osf wing. Not great.
BUT
What an immense car - love it already - I'll get some pics on the other thread.
I expect ceramic seal will be circa £5-600

Glad you like the car. I looked extensively at the F-Pace (lots of issues)and the Macan and Cayenne but the M50D ticked all the boxes. Full in and out detail, glas and insides plus alloys will be £800-1100 ish

My M5 went back today.
33000 miles, most hard to be fair. I've always washed it with a good mit, always foamed first and I have a used a water filter to rinse which eliminates the requirement to chamois even in hot weather.
Never been detailed, not a swirl in site and paintwork like glass.
Could looking after a car and consistently nice paintwork be down to good washing rather than detailing?

Firstly - good luck with collection the morning, enjoy and remember photos!
Proper care is essential but with some colours it just won't replace a paint correction and detail. Eg. Black Sapphire, Carbon Black, Tanzanite.... they all show the tiny scratches out on by the dealer and roads.
Interested in the water filter you use - I was looking an an RO filter but that may be overkill...

I looked at the F-Pace at a car show and was unimpressed with the tech - didn't seem to have moved on from my 2008 XF.
Took a Macan out (Diesel S) and it wasn't quick enough. Add to that it was tiny inside an the dash felt aged, I ruled it out. The Cayenne was just a bit long in the tooth and had the same problem when it came to pace.
I was comparing against the 40d X5 and still chose BMW! Didn't drive a 50s until after I'd ordered.
