Front Washer Jets

Are they all a bit weak or is it just mine?
I have three and none of them squirt water more than 1/3 the way up the windscreen.
Not sure if I need to get the tools out and have a poke so thought I'd ask what yours are all like fellow x drivers.

My 2016 models exactly the same.
Works pretty well as it makes the water run up the screen so you get full screen coverage!

there are filters on the jet pumps in the washer reservoir, check they are clear.

Totally stopped now.
Where is this filter? Is it buried behind the wheel arch liner?

filter is in the washer bottle,it may me attached to the pumps (can't remember).
As an aside, washer bottle filters usually block up if using inferior additive, genuine BMW stuff is obviously ok and I have found the Lidl additive is fine also.
No doubt others will be along with their suggestions.

Had a thought, my car is a 2002 4.4 E53, and my comments are related to a pre facelift car, later cars may have different locations for the pumps and filters.

So yesterday I had a day off with no Mrs around so decided to have a crack.
Jacked the car up, popped the wheel off, removed a bunch of 8 & 10mm bolts from the arch liners only to get completely beaten by plastic sodding pop rivets!

WTF am I supposed to do with them, drill them out? On my E46 they had center cores that you could get out and replace them when done. These just seem to be proper pop rivets made from plastic?

I've found the diagram on RealOEM now.

Would you say parts 4/6 are the infamous strainers (depending if you have headlight washers or not) ?

Looking at that diagram, yes those are the filters.....or strainers in BMW speak.  :)

Problem solved.

If you get this issue - even low power spraying all you need to is:
Get a football pump adapter
Disconnect the hose directly before the 3 under the bonnet (theres a black plastic C collar around a grey elbow, just pull it and separate)
Open the filler cap for the washers
Pump as much air in as you can (i used a 12v tyre pump)

Voila.

Any idea how you get to the filters as I have the same problem, i have tried blowing the pipes clear

The only way to get to them is by taking the wheel off and the inner liners out. They're held in by plastic rivets.

How did you blow in there? It took a lot with a 12v pump before mine cleared itself.
I'm assuming you know it's a blockage and not a failed pump?

Well the washers were working fine then they were only washing part way up the screen. I assume there is something in the washer bottle causing a blockage as I can hear the pump working.

Seems like it's only a very short term fix. Mines blocked, been unblocked and blocked again this weekend.

Going to have to get some new clips and then crack on removing it all to clean it out.
