Hi All,

Just placed an order for a new X5.  I currently have a 30d Msport F15 and I have ordered a 40d Msport.  I am going Black Saphire, white Nevada leather and MSport + pack.

My question is that when I ordered the car I specified the aluminium trim rather than spend the extra on Piano Black. Does anyone else have this interior and what do you think?  I was wondering whether I should have just paid the extra!

Also any thoughts on the power difference between 30d and 40d? I haven't driven the 40d but I thought it must be reasonably significant for the extra ££  any thoughts?

I test drove one 3 months ago , dealer said that it would get a bit quicker once run in , didnt find it particularly different to the 30D F15  although it was a bit smoother on pick up . It is basically the same engine plus an extra Turbo . They are supposed to be better on fuel than the 30D
  A Pal had  a 50D totally different beast , he regularly out drags Audi Rs4s .
Regarding the interior it is your car just order what you want otherwise you will always wish you had !

I'm waiting for a 50d - just over a week to go...!

I've left the aluminium hex inside, lots of haters out there but I really like it. Also, the piano black doesn't quite match the existing black trim just above/below so that put me off.

The only other interior trim I would consider is carbon and it's not special enough to justify in my opinion.

When all is said and done, it will be amazing regardless. Enjoy the wait.

I pick up my new 50d next Saturday and I've changed mine to brushed.

Looks fine, the Mrs has the same in her X3 and it brightens up the dash and as much as I like Piano Black the interior would have been too dark.

My sister works at a BMW dealer so I get a great deal through Alphabet so I change the car regularly but this one I will keep for three years. It gives me the best deal so I wanted to be sure to have the best I could afford......obviously this ended up being pretty much everything in the end.

It is worth noting that the MSport + pack seems to be a great deal, I've had black wheels which is an extra £325 but you get the wheels, privacy glass, head up display, HK and speed limit display for around 3k which seems bit of a bargain.

I have just found out though that the new 17 X5 has 9 interior light settings and sad as I am........I got quite exited

I like the brushed too - it was a coin flip for me.

Just realised that I seem I have forgotten to delete the smokers pack. But annoying as if like the cubbyhole rather than asktray - anyone seen a picture without the ashtray?

I always have the brushed aluminium as the black scratches very easily, my 40d X6 F16 that I have just traded in was a lot quicker than the 3 30d X5's I have had in the last 3 years, def recommend the 40 now every time, last run down south we did it averaged at 40mpg full of holiday stuff & 4 of us 1200 miles mix of roads.
