Hi all,
I've been having problems with my electronic handbrake for the last few weeks.
Dash tells me it has failed and I have to use the release tool in the boot to get the handbrake off.
I take the car to my Indie Dealer and they hook it up to the computer, reset the fault and it works fine again for a few weeks. Then it happens again.
They have given it the once over and have suggested that I take it to BMW for the software updating as this may rectify the problem.
Any ideas if this will help - or am I looking at the classic actuator on its way out?
Best
Matt

Re: Electronic Handbrake Help
BMW do regularly release firmware updates but whether or not they affect the operation of the actuator I don't know. I thought it was just a motorised geared 'puller' and sealed hence making servicing a real challenge.
If the car hasn't been into a main dealer for a while, it would very likely be worth the trip as there could be a number of bug fixes (sorry, 'technical improvements') not yet installed.
