Tyres - Diamara availability

Post by Rusty » Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:15 am

I'm not due to change them just yet but I did a bit if ringing around to see what sort of prices the big ole donuts are at the moment.

I had to smirk when the dealer quoted me £1500 ish for a set of 2x 275/40/20 and 2x 315/35/20. The service guy was almost pleased to inform me that the price did include 'free fitting'???
It was also the case that the fronts were not available and would have to come from Germany.

I dutifully called a couple of localish suppliers, both quoting just over £1000 for the set. One was of the opinion that they had tyres in group, the other contacted Michelin direct who informed him that the fronts were on approx 1month back order from the factory.

Just thought I would share in case anyone needed any sooner rather than later.

Always worth trying Costco (they only do Michelin) and twice a year they do a 20% off for 4 offer - I seem to remember it being Spring and Autumn. If you give your local store's tyre bay a ring they normally tell you when.
Just over two years ago, I was quoted £1,200 by local Kwik-Fit in Central London for set of four for 19 inchers on 2004 3.0d Sport. Got them at Costco Croydon for £660 fitted with the offer.

And I just got a pair of front 19" Toyo Proxes for £220 delivered. Are the Michelin's really twice as good? (rhetorical, they're not! :P )

I'm pricing up the Toyo's - the Michelin's are just too expensive for me at the moment...

All four corners are working out to £621. Used Jeegnesh as the guinea pig and he seems happy with his - gonna go for them (I think).

Certainly sounds as if I should give Costco a ring just to check things out. I'll update when I get a price/answer.

Thanks for your responses guys.
