Recall (ISOFIX)?

Post by SurreyX3 » Fri Aug 05, 2016 6:16 pm

Evening All,

Just been advised that some UK X3 models are subject to an ISOFIX anchor recall - Anyone else had this?
Presumably some sort of extra welding work. I checked the DVSA and there's nothing on it for this item - Is this a voluntary recall that somehow doesn't appear on the government site and how recent is it?

If it isn't a 'safety issue' then DVSA may not be involved - as they weren't for the E70/71 driveshaft fault.

Though quite how a propshaft fault isn't safety related seems a little hard to see!

Details are here though:  2011 onwards X3 builds and some X4's

That's great, thanks. Apologies I should have posted this in F25. Will do some Googling to find out how these are breaking and where the welding is done. Fingers crossed it doesn't damage the electronics from the electric current.

If the battery is disconnected there won't be a problem, and if the Dealers damage anything then they pay!

Any more information on this please? There are very little out there about this recall  :o
I called my dealership about one week ago to book a MOT and they informed me of this recall.

Thank you X5Sport for the reply. I did however have the defect number but forgot to mention it on my previous post.
I took my vehicle to the dealer today. It'll take 2 days to get my car back! It seems a bit much since the process of welding the new metal anchor only takes aprox 30 minutes :o
I would like to know if people here have taken their cars to the recall and if any problem appear from that please.
Also is there a topic for BMW dealers reviews on this site? There aren t many reviews online  :o
TKS!  ::)

2 days!  Must be all the tea breaks and extra training whilst they learn how to get the interior out, take half the bottom of the car off, clean, sand it, weld it (no one will know how!), paint it, do it again, paint it and then learn how to get the bits back on without breaking them....... >:D

Cynical?  Me?  O:-)
