Blacking out chrome window trim

Hi All,

Has anybody blacked out their chrome window trim? I'd be interested in this, I'm not a big fan of the chrome, but unsure of the best way to do it (paint, vinyl....etc).

Any pointers or before/after pics would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Interested in that as well. It is the last item of chrome on my car. I am getting my interior ALU trim wrapped up in 3 weeks, I might ask the guys there if they have any ideas.

Interesting post.

Mine were painted gloss black by previous owner, but the pieces at the top of front doors have just started to bubble in a couple of places and will need to be repainted.  I have just started to search for how to carefully take those bits of trim off without damaging them.

In the meantime I am carefully looking after the rest of the black-painted trim by making sure they are kept polished and waxed, and not blasting them with pressure washer when I clean the  car.

Hi All

Had my BMW X5 40d window chrome trim wrapped about three years now, in black Matt look like the real deal,
Should last about 5 to 8 years I was told about. So far all good,

Cheers for the replies.

The more I look into this the more I think wrapping it would be better - plus I can always take it off if. Plus, I'm guessing it can be wrapped in situ.

Cheers for the pictures!

I'm sold on this now after seeing that. I think there's a body shop near me that would be able to wrap. I'll get some quotes and post up some pictures once it's done.
