Just fitted these quality aerofoil cross-section roof bars:

ProRack WhispBars from New Zealand.

£149.00 from http://www.roofbox.co.uk

They look good, generate zero noise and with apparently negligible impact to fuel consumption.
Good YouTube videos of them being tested in a wind tunnel against competitors.

Will now attempt to fit my gorgeous big glossy black Thule roof box:

This will, of course, be de-badged and de-chromed as per my X5.

Agree with your comment on these bars. Purchased same bars last summer for 4 week trip around Europe. Left the bars on as there is very little impact, if any, on my mpg. They compliment the look of the car too.

i have them too, much nicer looking than any others. bit noisy with sunroof open.

safe speed for roofbox -dunno - but i drove to dordogne with an thule atlantis on the top, and for most of it was at 90 with odd spell at 100.

Purchased these for my MSport plus roof box and cycle carriers but come to fit today and the roof bars don't fit...bugger!

Even tho the roofbox told me they would fit. Quick google search and their not suitable for X5 with sunroof!!

Does anyone know if there is alternative roof bars?

Guess the pro bars will be going up for sale!!

Note: my roof bars (original posting) are now for sale if anybody would like them.

£50. Can deliver in the south east of England, otherwise you collect when next in London.

Only fit E70 SE (pre or post 2010 facelift), i.e. the raised roof rails.

Found them fantastic, but no need for them any longer. Great condition.

PM me.
