Post by rborhara » Wed Jul 27, 2016 9:53 pm

Hi

just saying a hi, currently driving a Honda Civic 2.2 diesel @ 118K on the clock the number of faults are stacking up which \outweigh the cost of the car.

SUV's are the rage, but due to my 80 mile round trip to work, ive ruled out a Range Rover and the X5 is where my heart is set
Love reading the forum, E70 threads especially as thats what i what , ive realised theres more happy owners than upset ones and just making sure i know all about the E70 and seeing loads before i do the deed in a few weeks and by one
Specwise im looking for
Black or White ,i dont think white glistens as well as a black detailed X5 some one correct me
Pan roof
3.0d
Comfort Seats
Comfort access if tha means keyless entry and start
Xenons
Leather
Electric Boot
Pro Nav
19" wheels

Ive wrtitten a fair bit so im going to maybe copy n paste this on the main E70 thread too

Hi and welcome to the forum

There is a good guide on the E70 section and definitely worth a read before purchasing.

It really depend on budget as to age mileage and what spec 30d or 35d or 40d models the latter ones I think LCI version was from 2011 (or poss late 2010) have 8 speed box and are a hit more frugal than the earlier 6 speed. The higher spec'd cars are generally from BMW or garages and they charge more for them.

Warranties are a good idea as it can be pricey fixing say a handbrake switch I think circa £700 has been the experience. Some prefer the 19" for a softer ride over 20" wheels, also the suspension can be the M sport option or m sport suspension delete on some cars and it's worth trying both so you know what you prefer. Good history is important on these cars and is condition based servicing.

Comfort seats and comfort access iirc were both options not spec'd that often. It may be worth making a list of what is essential and what is desirable options. Some owners have gone for SE versions over the M sport as more features as standard just personal preference.

So when looking make sure you check it all works sunroofs Windows etc and there are plenty of cars to choose from out there and the odd few advertised on here.

:hi:

They will be thirsty on that 80 mile round trip - keep that in mind.

The buyers guide will help a lot. Black will definitely be better but there are a few out there, fancy a different colour if you find the rare comfort seats? SE will be much easier on the ride than the Sport spec, plus cheaper potentially. 2010 models had the better iDrive setup and the facelift, consider that when looking (and early models fell into the high tax bracket - only for a year or so).

Good luck and keep us posted!
