alloy wheels

Further update to the bmw x5 alloy wheel debacle.
well received a call from harry fairburn to say that my car needs to get booked in to have the wheels replaced.
i dully made an appointment with Harry Fairburn to have the wheels replaced under warranty due to corrosion.
went along to harry Fairburn and one of the service adviser had asked me what the car was booked in for. I then said alloy wheels. she vaguely remembers the conversation i had with her.
when asked how many wheels would be replaced she did not have a clue. first off it would be one. when challenged she then proceeded to look up the job card and call someone in the workshop. it now turns out Im having 3 alloys replaced under warranty two front and one rear wheel.
Therefore i reckon a good result for me from bmw warranty claim.
i asked the service adviser to leave the center caps off as i would be removing the alloys to treat them with wax etc.
Received a call to say my car was ready to be picked up just after lunch so i poped along to pick the car up.
first anomilie was the warning triangle on the dashboard warning me not to break sharply due to a Tyre issue. oped back in to see the receptionist to ask the tech if he can check it out. i was then told i had to drive for 10 miles to re set the tyre monitoring system.
drove home and still had the warning on the dash called HF for advice. was told to reset tires monitoring system.
checked tires pressures not one of the tyres read the same pressure. sorted that out and re set monitoring system all fine he says.
removed the front alloys the next day to clean and polish same to preserve the new alloy.
noticed both front alloys inside rim had been scored by tire machine.
rear alloy has slight mark on inside rim too.
called bmw again took raft of pictures and went back next day for the bmw tech to put car on ramp and look at damaged alloy.
called from the service manager next day said they would have them painted for me.
currently waiting for a mobile alloy wheel painter to come to my home and fix the alloys.
Bill Blair wheel repairs i have used this chap before he works magic on damaged alloys.
have contacted bmw customers service to have there views on my new wheel repair.
incidentally noticed the front alloy wheels are made in Italy and the rear ones are made in Germany. paint finish on the front is no where near the quality of the rear alloys
will keep you posted
HF in kirkcaldy not impressed with these guys at all.
kind regards
