X5 going

Post by mikem » Sat Jul 09, 2016 8:58 pm

Well after 5yrs of loyal service it's going. Our dog had to be put to sleep a few more mths back and the little ones now big enough that the wife doesn't feel it necessary to carry half of mothercare about with her.  :P

I'll do some proper for sale threads next week but I'll have :

genuine webasto remote and module,
Intravee + alpine,
17" winters with good General snow grabber tyres,
2x 30mm H&R spacers (bolt on type with add. Bolts)
Full boot liner (canvas)
and some Black Xtrons touch screen DVD headrests if anyone's interested?

Yes, it's the wife's car Colin. Moving her into a Countryman SD all4, it'll be nice to see mpg not starting with a 2 !

We had a Countryman All4 SD and struggled to get more than 43mpg - 30% short of stated.  We had to replace it when little man arrived......as we found we needed to start carrying half of Mothercare. :-\

Cheers X5sport. Wife's commute is mostly motorway/dual so hoping to get closer to 50 from it. Just a pitty they don't have the latest engine/boxes yet.

I have a 125d auto as a daily that easily gets 50+

The E53 drinks more than my GT3 !!

The 1-series is for some reason a far more economical car even with the same sized engine.  Most of her commute was 20 miles of dual carriageway.

Hi Lez, I'm central Scotland mate.

I'll start removing stuff tomorrow and photograph, put some adds up.

After a long drive in a Countryman today we've canned it. Put a deposit in an X1 18d Xdrive instead, going to see it tomorrow, hopefully it'll be as good as it looks and with a remap should be a nicer drive.

X5 appearing at a BCA auction soon, good one if anyone sees it "HY06 EMF Sterling Grey, Black nappa, sport exclusive with premium pack 88K miles" - if the owner appears on here I've kept all the service invoices/old tax discs etc to pass on.

In the mean time really enjoying this, fantastic little car and the wife's over the moon with it. Currently sitting at 45mpg Vs the X5's 26mpg under similar driving. Hopefully get it mapped next week.

Cheers Colin, I love the looks of the countryman but it's just not a BMW, interior plastics and switchgear is pants.

I'm sure it'll be a nicer place to be when the new model's released but that's still a while off yet. X1 feels very similar to the X3 we had before the X5.

The Beetles getting on a bit now, it'll be 17 this year
