Air con problem

Post by X3nut » Sun Jul 03, 2016 6:28 pm

Anyone know where the air con compressor relay is located on the E83? Been having problems with the air going cold then getting that smell when the air con goes off. Had the bonnet up and can see the clutch engaging for about 5 seconds then disengaging for about 20 secs then engaging again and so on...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Could also be a gas pressure issue.  The systems lose up to 15% gas every year (especially if not used regularly) so if it hasn't been recharged recently it may be a pressure problem causing the disengage and cycling the pump to see if the pressure comes up.

Thats what i would assume but i went to kwikfit to have it regassed before i noticed it. Didn't get charged for the regass as they couldn't get it to stay cold. Did a bit of digging and found that the relay contacts can wear and cause intermittent power to the compressor!
