Coding and diagnostics??

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if a second hand 16.9 screen would need re-coding on fitment please??

I fitted one and 2 days on it's developed same fault as the other so one thing I need to rule out is the coding I've read about.

Also can anyone recommend a reasonable priced diagnostic scanner that will read 2002 E53? Want it for simple things like re-setting lights and diagnosing accessories such as PCD failures etc??

Cheers all

The screen shouldn't need coding on the E53 you say you have a fault that has re-occurred on your "new" replacement screen, what is it your seeing? Or not.

The screen is driven by the Nav computer and TV module it will run from one or the other but if both have issues then no picture at all though the radio may still work.
If the Nav unit is OK then you will have full functionality, if the nav unit has a fault (stop start reboot) or just isnt working the TV module will take over Blue screen and limited functions.

Many thanks for the update.

Think I sorted it anyway, I got a 'new' disc player/sat nav module and all looks good cross fingers. Just gotta update to version 4 now wish me luck haha

Glad its sorted

The Nav player you brought does it have DVD on the front? If it does that is a Mk4 unit. If it doesn't have DVD on the front then it will be a Mk 2 or Mk3 CD based unit.
If you open the Settings/Configuration screen the top right corner will give you the software version that your system is running.
