Drivers door handle lock and bolt wont bloomin' line up!

So today has been a complete waste...

About 2 months ago bonnet release and driver door handle went on the same day.  Spent today attempting to fix both and failed twice.  This particular thread is about the door handle though.

So, its the driver side handle and everything went fine until... It came to bolting the lock barrel back into place.  Can I buggery get the allen bolt and the hole in the lock mechanism to line up, several hours later I have given up for the day.

I know theres a million door handle threads, so I did a forum search and found one post that said  something like "undo this bolt and re assemble..it'll all be fine"  but the pic showing the which particular bolt had expired  >:(

So chaps I need some pointers on lineing up the hole with the bolt... please!

I had similar issues.

Try fitting the lock without the coloured trim piece and clip it on afterwards.  It seems to make it easier.

Oh!  Does the coloured surround around the lock come off?  I didn't realise that, but I did notice there was two prongs that seemed to clip it into place.  In fact can't believe I didn't try that already  ::)

Anyway, awesome suggestion, will try that tomorrow.

It was still a bugger of a job, but it was at least possible after taking the colour plastic jacket off.
