Computer software?

Hi all I'm looking into getting my own software to read faults etc...

However there are many on eBay but which is the best one or do you people recommend?

ive only ever used the scanner 1.4 i think there quite cheap now on ebay etc. it does the job just fine for me. some people have reported trouble getting the the software to load onto newer laptops. i have an old one running xp which workes fine.

It's more of a case here that the dumber the software, the safer you'll be....
(Not meant to insult anyone)

There are packages available that are very 'powerful' and can give you a very quick and easy route to brick your car if you don't know what you're doing!!!!!

Scanner 1.4 appears to be a very stable, easy and safe option.
Will most probably do everything you want, however never had experience of it myself though so really cannot comment on its full functionality.
Just going on what I have read and researched.

I used the Scanner1.4.0 too when I had the E53. I've gone with the Carley app which I run on my IPad now. Covers more cars, but is more expensive aproximatly £85 with the Carley Gen 2 OBD2 wireless wifi adapter (£50), then you download the app (£35.)
