Help if possible on fault codes from my 2004 X5 diesel 3l 2004

Post by Sye » Wed Feb 17, 2016 9:07 pm

Hi I have a 2004 x5 e53 3l diesel.
had a "Fuel Injection System" warning on my dash when I hit about 4000 rpm to overtake a clown, the car still drove fine I put my diagnostic on it when I got home and these are the codes that came up.  4501: MAF controlled EGR system, EGR flow to high - permanent  4560: Rail pressure monitoring, delivery deviation - intermittent  4570: Rail pressure monitoring, delivery deviation - permanent  Has anyone got any ideas on what the cause is please
Cheers  Sye

Could be a blocked fuel filter.
Could be a sticking AGR valve
These are serviceable items, when I'm trying to get to the bottom of a fault I first try to eliminate serviceable items that can cause problems.
Even under a full BMW service history, fuel filters and a dirty EGR valve never get touched. EGR valve is a DIY job. A set of Allan keys and a fin of carb cleaner. Fuel filter requires removal of certain under. Has six plastic covers.
Hope you get it sorted without much hassle
