Panoramic Sunroof Tilt Function Question

Post by scz4 » Sun Feb 14, 2016 8:42 pm

Guys,

Tested a X5 today with a panoramic sunroof. The blind shade worked perfectly and the roof seemed to slide back and forward again smoothly, but how do you get it to tilt? We couldn't work it out. Also, does the rear panel slide back too?

You push the button upwards into the roof.  No the rear panel doesn't slide back, only tilts.

Ah cool. I'll need to test that then. He genuinely didn't seem to know how to do it and suggested I test the roof,  so I hope he wasn't hiding an issue with it. Will go back for a second viewing if I want to go for it.

Car has done 61k, which makes me a little anxious despite FSH, 4new tyres etc. I know these cars are hard on suspension

Try get one with warranty as they have a lot of electrics when u push button in make sure it comes back down level test it a least ten times also if you keep open button pressed on remote will open pan roof they can be prone to stick on tilt had mine serviced by bmw

Thanks for the advice.

It comes with a generic (non BMW) 6 month warranty, but not sure if it will cover sunroofs etc, I'd need to check the T&C's.

I know what you mean, I currently have a 2011 525d under warranty and it's real peace of mind and it's only 4 years old and 43k miles.

This X5, whilst it has a full SH, it's a mixture of dealer and specialist so can't buy a BMW warranty, plus it's just ticked over 60k miles so would be stupid money. One plus is no MOT advisories in its history.

Wow that's heavy money for an08 car, thought you could get 2010 LCI X5's for that sort of money. Must be a nice one

There's other well spec Msports for 5 K less on autotrader.

Hmmm, that black one is very cheap!! I couldn't have a black car though. It does make the one I drove today look expensive, although it was immaculate even to my OCD standards, plus 4 new tyres and a towbar which is worth £1500 minimum.

I should probably just be patient and another will come up. Has to be silver, still looks very fresh.
