£37k for the 3.0d !!!
Are they taking the michael with that pricing ?
You'd have to be seriously daft to spend that on a X3.

It's not much different than the E53 was in 2005, and the new X3 is only an inch shorter. Mind you, I suspect a fully specc'd one
will be silly money....
. 20% VAT won't be helping much either. There was also a comment in last week's Auto Express that the VAT change was used a cover by certain motor manufacturers (BMW amongst them) to bring in other price increases under the radar. The X6 went up by more than £2k over what I paid.

Thanks for sharing
Scrutinising the specs it seems that according to the website you get the following on the MSport models :
18" M Light alloy wheels - Double-spoke style 354 M
Sport suspension
Variable sport steering
Performance Control
Tyre Puncture Warning System (TPWS)
Sports seats, front
Exhaust tailpipe finisher in chrome
Exterior trim, High-gloss Shadowline
Kidney grille, Chrome with black vertical slats
M aerodynamic bodystyling
Roof rails, High-gloss Shadowline
Door sill finishers with M designation
Headlining, Anthracite
Interior trim, Brushed Aluminium
M gearshift knob
M leather steering wheel
M Sport upgrade on the 2.0d cars works out at £2695 & on the 3.0d £2375.
Incidentally metallic paint standard on the 3.0d engned cars regardless of prescence or otherwise of MSport designation.

The price does not do it any justice for me prefer the Q5 to this you get more for your money.

M-Sport 30d £53,775 fully kitted out - hmmm that's definitely an awful lot of money for that vehicle.
That is actually more than my E53 cost in 2005 but prices have risen I suppose. I wonder if BMW wil ever realise they do need to put more kit in by default rather make customers pay through the nose, bank and mortgage company for every little optional extra. I certainly would not spend that kind of sum on an X3.
But then I spent a
lot more on the X6...

What do you get more for your money? Just looked at the 3.0d SLine with a cost of £39,470 OTR can't see that it has any better spec that the X3

As mentioned elsewhre in my 2.0d SE review all new X3's have nevada leather as standard. No option of softer but arguably less durable nappa & the sports seats as standard on the Msport are electric.
All cars ( SE & M Sport), come with the IDrive & 6.5" colour screen as standard. With no obvious screen abscence the lack of NAV option wont change the physical structure & appearance of the dash as it does no say on E53 X5 or E83 X5 though celverly it will motivate some to get NAV or the media packages...............
Business Multimedia at £1775 & adds 2D Nav, Bluetooth phone prep & temematics USB audio interface & Voice Control. BMW Assist & Assist online portal.
Professional Multimedia at £2210 & comes with a larger screen, 3D maps & supposedly better route planning also some mention of media storage in brochure.
TV is a further £825 on top from what I can make out.
Thats the leather & NAV issues clarified then.
Other packages including Climate, Visibility, Cold & Access Packs. Toys include HUD, DAB & a reverse assist camea with top view.
Very easy for those not financially resticted to esaily justify adding several thousands to the bill - even on the realively better equipped M Sport vehicles.
You have to hand it to BMW thwre markeing is spot on & as ever the temptations of options are high.
I am unlikely to buy one of these anytime soon & thus I should stop looking at this new model in such detail.............

Well, when I commented on Mrs PVR buying 3 coats this week, I got a response that "she does not check how much I spend on cars".
I take that as an OK to do whatever I like then

Err right. You might not get away that easy. I got a similar response from my other half, and took advantage of the lapse in her normal cobtrol. BUT....... I had to make sure she was part of the process of buying the X6. Toys were my choice, colours.........hers!!
And of course the bills were all mine. AND she wanted the X5 too. Coats would have been so much simpler...
