Is it possible to separate the two halves of the bottle ie top black plastic part from white bottom half, for the purposes of cleaning?

Yes

But putting them back together afterwards is a little more tricky!!

Seriously (what me!!??!)
I don't think you can
You can take it out the car and give it a blast with something though.

I used a long bendy bottle brush and a bleach solution to get rid of the black gunk in mine.

I think the two parts were welded together so taking them apart will need a saw!

I cleaned mine with a bit of soapy water, a hand full of clean grit & shook it all about for a while...
scrubbed up nicely & got rid of the dead stuff inside...

you could use a bottle brush if you can bend it to get to all the grubby bits i guess

Ok thanks to everyone. Do we think the plastic is robust enough to be dishwasher proof?

I disagree - there is the main filling aperture which is positioned correctly will let water in, and the two smaller pump ones (which i agree wont let much water in and in fact will also let the water from the kain aperture back put but I'm just trying to flush through

I'll give it a go. Reason for asking is I havent yet taken it off but last time I struggled even with a bottle brush to reach some of the grubby parts

I have a hand held steam cleaner I might try the nozzle on that too

I wrestled with this one just like you are.... a handful of gravel & a small squirt of Fairy... & a good shake solved it for me.

Thanks - I also have some sterilising fluid that I thought may kill the bugs but it is a case of having to plug the pump apertures somehow so i can let it steep overnight.

I'm gonna stick some sterilising fluid in my girlfriend too... she's turned into a new species too since the onset of menopause ...  :))

not to everyones liking but coming for a subaru background. you could get it plastic dipped.

can be done in a range of colours or compersits ie carbon fiber.
