BMW Expects SUV Growth to Continue Long Into the Future

Stolen from the X4 Club, I found this interesting..
BMW expects SUV sales to rise to a 40% share of the brand's total sales volume in 2016. In 2015, BMW SUV sales made up 34% of the total volume. So there is growth, and BMW believes that growth is going to continue into 2016, and long after that. If 2016 is 40%, we can only imagine what that share will grow to in 2017, 2018 and beyond.
In 2015 demand exceeded supply in the first nine months of last year. With the X1 being released, that issue should only get worse. To address this problem, BMW is investing in the expansion of its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. That expansion will increase production over 30% to 450,000 units per year.
In addition to this plant expansion, BMW will be building its X7 SUV in the next few years.
BMW is really going all in with its SUVs. And that is because it believes society is going all in for SUVs.
Bring on the SUVs BMW.
X Marks the Spot for BMW, Who Expects a Significant Increase in SUV Demand in 2016
Thoughts?

Interesting but not surprised. The SUV is a good looking car usually with 4x4 and a status. Audi must be thinking along the same lines as they are set to launch a SUV all electic car in the next couple of years with a range of 300 miles.

Be interested in what the X7 turns out like..
Always fancied a 760, but wasn't practical
(as if an X7 will be!!)

And it means the supply of gearboxes remains good....

Hi
I am waiting for the new flagship model the Xager8 which I heard is to be better than all SUV's currently available
bigger
faster
Better off road
All previous options are now standard
more aerodynamic
cheaper to buy and
60% more economical to drive
So looking forward to that one being available

I too am quite surprised there is not a larger bmw X series as my dad has a new range rover and the x5s are worlds apart from these, i also had a go in the new range rover sport he had as a courtesy car and that was very very nice, so i feel bmw could be lagging behind a little

x5 a lot more reliable than RRS according to owner feedback though!
(Better in the bends too!)

can't compare comfort really.. riding an RR is like sitting on a sofa floating on a boat, hardly feel the road etc..
doubt if BMW tries to even match that.. they like to be SUVs not even proper offroads..
more concerning is the outdated interiors, they really need a step change to do away with the age old outdated interiors i think..
some design variation on the exteriors are also welcome, if not the entire model range will look the same.. much like the 0000s... my current choice

Im not really comparing im sayimg that if bmw had an suv as luxuryious as a range rover they could gain sales, the range rover really has no rival does it until the bently suv comes out
