AC Pusher Fan - an age old problem here I think !!

E53 Diesel Sport - 2004.
AC pusher fan has never worked....
Replaced the fan - still does not work.
Another member "Ryoken" has a similar fan issue too...
Power is getting to the two big cables & the black is hooked to the earth OK...
the signal wire is buried away in the loom & is undamaged...
I retro fitted an El-Cheapo e-bay unit last summer, which helped in preventing me getting boiled alive in a few traffic jams, but its ugly & I'd sooner have the original fan working properly..
Any suggestions (

)poliite ones

) ) ?

get your ac recharged, mine was empty . that's why the ac was cooking me , that fan is there just for HOT countries
if you get ac charged and it cools down , forget the pusher fan

The AC works perfectly as a system... just gotta keep the vehicle moving.
but just cannot get the air thru the condenser .. ie.. the fan is knackered & will not turn.
The gas pressure is fine.
so, repeating the question... how can I get the fan to work ?

I have read that INPA can be used to test / cycle the fan on all variable speeds, the trigger wire as you call it is operated by the DME module. Seems INPA May help to determine if it's a faulty wiring or module

INPA Edibias is the official BMW software. The full dealer version is on their GT1 system - or whatever it is now called. You will need to set it up on a laptop. It is available on line.
Probably the best source of all the files is BMWCoders dot com. It will allow you to look as all the car functions, test a number (or all) of them and make coding changes too.
You need the main program and then the correct data files for your car type, plus an interface cable between the laptop and car.

I have exactly the same issue on my 2004....will be keen to learn any resolutions.
Same symptoms...fine when car is moving, AC lovely and cold. When stuck in traffic and stationary...not very cold at all.
I have never seen or heard the pusher fan kick in.

Try unplugging the sensor under the bonnet on the osf air con hose

Heard about this sensor - located it also -
what does it do & how can it be tested as working or not ?
I've also ordered a pack of software & cable to interrogate the vehicle systems & fault diagnosis, hoping it will arrive this week too..

Done that... doesnt make any difference...

Not sure about INPA, but with BMW DIS you can activate the fan.
Under control unit functions, then DDE, there is an activate fan function.
Best to check the fuses behind the glovebox as well, I believe one of the big 50Amp red ones is for the fan.

XDSS.
I am assuming you have checked voltages on all connections??
Confirm you have 12v at the power leads
Then see what you are getting from the control core
You should see something on there, even if it is a pulsed signal.
That would discount wiring.
If i remember i'll have a poke around on mine at the weekend and see what should be seen from a (surprisingly) working one...
I believe INPA can activate fan, but need to confirm as never tried it for that part....
Going down the DIS route will give you many a headache......... :-[
