Traffic Announcements Stuck On!

Any suggestions for getting the traffic announcements off? (Yes I've tried the traffic announcement button!)
2012 X3 with iDrive. The annoying thing is the 'TP' icon isn't showing in the radio display, so in theory it isn't on - but my music is constantly interrupted by traffic announcements. Nor when I press the button does the 'TP' show as on/off. It's like the button is dead, the function is always on, but it isn't showing as on in the radio display.
Very frustrating, any help appreciated!
