Alarm problem solved

The alarm on my X5 kept going off, sometimes as soon as I locked it and other times when it had been stood for 5 mins or so. After a search on here I traced the problem to the switch under the bonnet. Disconnected it and no problems with the alarm since
Next time I am passing a dealer I will get a new switch.
Thanks

Its even less trouble to put a small sticky pad, the sort you put under items to stop scratches on a tabletop - sold in a pack of about 20 for £1 at places like Lidl, etc - on the bonnet directly above the switch, so it depresses all the way - I had this problem on my previous X and it solved the problem completely when I did this. The switch itself is also cheap, but you can't beat the sticky pad

Those bonnet switches are a common problem on Beemers. Had the same problem on my M3.
